About
Why this app exists.
AstroRight is built on a simple thesis: Vedic astrology has been mistreated by both its critics and its practitioners. Critics dismiss it as superstition without reading the literature. Practitioners — the bad-faith ones — sell predictions and remedies that exploit the tradition's authority for short-term profit. There is room, between those two failures, for an app that takes the tradition seriously.
The book
AstroRight is grounded in Jyotisha — A Complete Study of Vedic Astrology by Mukul Bisen. It is a 65-chapter modern treatment that synthesises the classical literature (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Brihat Jataka, Phaladeepika, Saravali, Surya Siddhanta) into a single careful exposition. Every reading the app produces cites the chapter it draws from. There are no inventions.
The team
AstroRight is built by SailRight Tech — a small Indian product team focused on calm, careful software for cultural traditions. We are not astrologers ourselves. We are people who have read the canonical book carefully, worked alongside its author, and built AstroRight so the tradition can be encountered the way the literature actually describes it — not the way the marketplace usually presents it.

The posture
We have a written set of principles every contributor follows. In priority order:
- Accuracy first. A chart that disagrees with established Vedic astrology software is broken, regardless of how the screen looks.
- Education over prescription. The app helps you understand and reflect, not obey commands. Every interpretation includes the reasoning, with chapter references back to the book.
- Ethics over engagement. No fear-framed notifications, no doom predictions, no predatory remedy upselling.
- Cultural respect over commercial pressure. Sanskrit terms are preserved. Both North and South Indian chart styles are first-class. Indian languages are first-class.
- Privacy as a feature. Birth data is sensitive. Encrypted on our servers, never sent to analytics, full deletion path always available.
The ethical line
From the book's framing, restated as the closing rule of our internal posture document:
Never use astrology to fix another person's future, to extract money for elaborate remedies they do not need, to declare matches "impossible," or to predict catastrophe.
Every feature is held against that line.

Out of scope, deliberately
- Western tropical astrology, sun-sign content, daily-horoscope blurbs.
- Selling gemstones, yantras, pujas, or "consult our pandit" services.
- AI-generated personalised predictions beyond what the classical rules support.
- Tarot, numerology, palmistry, vastu — different traditions; if added later, separate scope and team.
